Animal rescuers saved a dozen puppies from the gas chambers of Kentucky — but the abandoned pooches still need Brooklyn’s help.

Pet lover Jennifer Lamb is looking for a driver who can schlep the dogs from New Jersey to Brooklyn Heights for the last leg of a life-saving trip that rescued them from execution down south.

“These are wonderful pets that are just bred and tossed away in Kentucky, but they’re highly adoptable here,” Lamb said. “They still use the gas chambers in a lot of these rural places.”

Lamb’s group, In Our Hands Rescue, has been saving Southern pooches from death and abusive homes for the past three years, but their usual transporter backed out last minute.

Now she needs a good Samaritan with a car to pick up the pups in Basking Ridge, not far from Newark.

The band of little terriers, Yorkies, Chihuahuas and Labradors have been fully vetted and are ready for adoption at a North Shore Animal League event on Saturday in Brooklyn Heights.

If you can help, contact Jennifer Lamb at mamaluvcats@aol.com or 347-675-0536.

North Shore Animal League adoption, 108 Court St. near Schermerhorn Street in Brooklyn Heights (516) 883-7575] on Feb. 18, 12 to 6 pm.
