A Williamsburg police sergeant accused of raping a 15-year-old girl died in an apparent suicide on Thursday, police said.
Authorities found Joel Doseau dead in his family home in Canarsie around noon on Aug, 20, police said.
Doseau appeared to have killed himself, cops said — he had a plastic bag over his head, which was being fed gas fumes from a nearby butane tank, and left a note behind.
Police arrested the 43-year-old in early August and a grand jury indicted him on 40 charges — including rape and sexual abuse — over an ongoing sexual relationship he had with a teen girl that began when she was 15 years old.
Doseau, who was out on bail at the time of his death, was facing up to 15 years in the slammer.
