Delivered to police
A knife-wielding thug masquerading as a pizza deliveryman robbed a woman on Seventh Street on Dec. 24 — but was arrested following a bungled getaway
The thief, who was carrying pizza boxes, followed the 28-year-old woman into the lobby of her apartment building near Prospect Park West at 11 am, then flashed a knife and said, “Give me all your stuff. I don’t want to hurt you.”
The woman handed over an iPhone, black leather boots, $60 — and even her earmuffs. The crook scooped up the stuff and fled in a stolen car, but crashed into a taxi after running several red lights.
Bad passenger
Police arrested a 24-year-old they say beat up a taxi driver during a Dec. 24 exchange on Fourth Avenue.
The 60-year-old cabbie was parking his car near Eighth Street at 5:10 am when the thug asked for a ride. The cabbie explained that his shift was over, then tried to exit the car — but the jerk pushed him, screaming, “You have to take me home!”
The thug then punched the cabbie in the face, leaving his victim with a black eye and a mouth full of blood. Cops arrested a 24-year-old suspect the same night.
Unlucky 13
A jerk roughed up a man at a bar on 13th Street on Christmas Day.
The 28-year-old victim was drinking at Lucky 13 Saloon near Fifth Avenue at around 1 am, when a jerk smashed him in the face with a glass cup — leaving him with a gash on his forehead.
Costumed crooks
Two sneaky thieves dressed as construction workers stole some tools from a Fourth Avenue subway station on Dec. 20.
A witness said the thieves were dressed in orange vests and hard hats as they walked into the station near Ninth Street at 11:25 pm. A few minutes later, they ran out of the station with several saws and drills, then jumped into a white Lexus with out-of-state plates.
Computer swipe
A jerk stole a laptop from a Third Street apartment on Dec. 16.
The 26-year-old victim left her home near Sixth Avenue at 10 am, then returned at 3 pm the next day — giving the thief enough time to climb through the rear window of the building, swipe a $1,200 MacBook and run away.
Hands off!
A thug snatched a fancy cellphone from a woman during a Dec. 19 altercation on Third Street.
The 49-year-old was walking her dog near Prospect Park West at 6:30 pm, when a jerk snatched the $600 iPhone from her hand and ran off.
Bathroom bandit
A jerk stole money from a Sackett Street bar-goer on Dec. 20.
The 28-year-old victim left his backpack in the restroom at The Sackett bar near Fourth Avenue at 7:45 pm. He tried to retrieve it a few hours later — then discovered someone had snatched his wallet from the bag.
Busted teen
A 14-year-old crook jacked a cellphone from a woman on Eighth Avenue on Dec. 21 — but was arrested within a few hours.
The 49-year-old victim told cops she was texting while walking near Berkeley Place at 5:40 pm, when a teen jerk snatched her white iPhone and ran off.
iSwipe
A jerk stole a fancy cellphone from a woman on Carroll Street on Dec. 22.
The 53-year-old victim was nearing Seventh Avenue at 5:52 pm when the thug ran up from behind, snatched a white iPhone in a pink case from her right hand.
Chrysler, Christ!
A freewheeling fiend stole a van left on Whitwell Place on Dec. 22.
The 65-year-old owner parked her 2004 gray Chrysler van in front of her home near Carroll Street at 11 am. She returned to it the next day and discovered her $7,000 ride had been taken.
Pipe dream
A crook stole some sewer pipes on Carroll Street on Dec. 24.
A witness spotted a man loading the swiped pipes into a shopping cart near Nevins Street just after midnight — then ran off with his $1,600 haul.
Bad shift
A thief stole a purse from a woman on Fifth Avenue on Dec. 22.
The 59-year-old victim set her bag on the bar at 200 Fifth Restaurant, Bar and Grill near Berkeley Place — where she worked — at 2:30 am, then looked away for a few minutes. A few hours later, she found the purse empty — on the other side of the bar.
