Children and families from the Young Dancers in Repertory after-school program at PS 127’s McKinley Park School had plenty to be thankful for as the Brooklyn-based arts organization hosted a Thanksgiving feast at the Bay Ridge school, 7805 Seventh Avenue.
Parents were invited to make and share their dishes with the after-school children, including an impressive array of ethnic foods such ashumus, platanos, dumplings, and plenty of delicious desserts.
Additionally, the YDR after-school program was paid a visit by State Senator Martin Golden, who observed the fourth and fifth graders rehearsing for their upcoming holiday show. He also met with one of the third grade groups and learned about all of theprogram’s various activities.
Through a partnership with the Department of Youth and Community Development, Young Dancers runs the free after-school program, so that children can enjoy classes in dance, drama, and arts & crafts. They also receive homework help and get to participate in shows throughout the year.
