Fake cop scams man

The Brooklyn Paper

Ersatz officer

Some creep posing as a cop picked up a man on Vanderbilt Avenue on Aug. 26, drove him to Cumberland Street in his fake cruiser, then robbed him.

The victim told the 88th Precinct that he was between Park and Myrtle avenues at 5 pm when a man flashed a badge and handgun, then told the victim to get into his car.

The impersonating officer then drove the victim to a parking lot near Fulton Avenue, told him to get out of the car, and took his wallet and cash. The imposter cop said a “paddy wagon,” which is a horrible ethnic slur, was on its way, then he left in his car.

Two got away

Cops arrested one of three thugs who mugged a man for his wallet on Flatbush Avenue on Aug. 27.

The victim told cops that he was near Lafayette Avenue at about 2:30 am when the trio approached and demanded cash. One perp punched him in the face while another grabbed the dough. Everyone ran away, but one thug didn’t get too far.

Bash and bolt

A thug attacked a man and then stole his iPhone on Washington Avenue on Aug. 28.

The victim told cops that he was near Fulton Street at 4:45 am when some creep approached him and asked for change. After the victim said no, the perp felled him with a punch to the head and made off with the victim’s cellphone.

Bungled burg

Police arrested a bike-stealing bandit on Washington Avenue on Aug. 24.

Police watched the perp enter a house near Gates Avenue at 3 am. Minutes later, he emerged toting a bicycle over his shoulder. The jerk told cops he was authorized to get the bike, but the owner didn’t agree. Now the thief is in cuffs.

Fire drill

Some creep stole a laptop out of a Pratt Institute apartment on Grand Avenue on Aug. 25.

The victim told cops that after work, she returned to her apartment near DeKalb Avenue at 11:45 pm and found her laptop missing from her room. The front door was locked, but her roommate’s window, which leads to the fire escape, was left open.

Def scam

Some creep stole a wallet out of a woman’s purse at Long Island University on Aug. 26.

An employee told cops that the perp approached her desk and said, “I’m deaf. I need help making copies.” The kind-hearted victim went to make the copies at 11:30 pm, and when she returned five minutes later, she noticed her wallet missing from her purse and the deaf man gone.

Lost loser

A perp stole a car’s navigation system device which had been left at a bank on Myrtle Avenue on Aug. 27.

The victim told cops that he left the device to re-charge inside the bank, which is located between Washington and Waverley avenues. When he returned at 11 am, it was gone.

Target target

Cops arrested two perps who stole a wallet containing $300 from a woman while she was shopping at a department store inside the notorious Atlantic Terminal Mall on Aug. 27.

Cameras inside the store, which is located near Atlantic Avenue, caught one of the jerks taking the wallet then handing it off to her partner-in-crime at 8:15 pm.

Joey from Clinton Hills says:
unlike other lame ethnic groups, real irish folks don't get offended by terms like "paddy wagon". We embrace ND's "Fighting Irish" and the Boston "Celtics". Now if we could just get William Donahue (Catholic League) to shut up!

samurai from clinton hill says:
He actually said "patty wagon," which is a terrible slur against Jamaicans.
