Police arrested one suspect but are still looking for a second in connection with a pair of sexual assaults of the same woman that took place an hour apart in Clinton Hill on Aug. 31.
The 31-year-old victim said she was on Gates Avenue between Irving Place and Classon Avenue at 5 am when the first suspect approached her, told her he had a gun, and sexually assaulted her. An hour later, less than a block away on Irving Place between Gates and Putnam avenues, a six-feet tall, 170-pound man again shoved the woman down and abused her, officers stated.
Cops arrested a 17-year-old for the first attack, charging him with robbery, a “criminal sex act,” unlawful imprisonment, assault, and weapon possession. The suspect lives about five blocks from where that attack occurred, police said.
Officers are still searching for the second attacker and have released a sketch that they say shows his mug.
Police are also after a braces-wearing teen, who looks to be about 17, for a groping and attempted home invasion that happened in Gowanus in July, but said they don’t think the incident is related.
The NYPD asks those with information about the incident to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577–8477, go to www.nypdcrimestoppers.com, or text-message tips to 274637 and enter “TIP577.”
