Ave. J bias attack

Hate crime charges are being filed against a 42-year-old man who allegedly terrorized a Jewish man on Nostrand Avenue near Avenue J last week.

The victim, who was wearing a yarmulke at the time of the attack, said that he was approaching the corner at 10:40 a.m. on January 12 when suspect Joseph Berlin allegedly began arguing with him.

“Repeat after me, all Jews must die,” the man allegedly hissed as he took out his frustrations on the victim’s car, denting the rear driver’s side door with a kick, according to published reports.

Responding officers took Berlin into custody without incident a short time later, charging him with aggravated harassment and criminal mischief, according to officials from the Kings County District Attorney’s office.
