A glass-shattering goon wanted for two burglaries on Avenue U was arrested last week after he attempted to break into his third neighborhood business, police alleged.
Officials said that Ruben Guiterez, 34, also known as Alfredo Pachon, was charged with multiple counts of burglary after he was allegedly seen trying to break into a restaurant on Avenue U near Brown Street at 2 a.m. on November 21.
Guiterez was reportedly seen swinging a shovel at the front window of the eatery, breaking it, police said. He tried to crawl through the window, but couldn’t since it was blocked by a wooden wall, witnesses alleged.
Guiterez fled the area, but was soon picked up by police from the 61st Precinct, who allegedly connected him to two other burglaries in the area.
Officials said that Guiterez was charged withbreaking into a business on Avenue U near Coyle Street back on August 13.
Employees said that when they showed up for work the next morning, they found the front window broken. The company fax machine was missing.
Guiterez was also accused of breaking into the Law Office of Michael Reinhardt, which is connected to the Fillmore Real Estate building on Avenue U near Batchelder Street on the night October 24.
Once again, Guiterez smashed the front window of the attorney’s office in order to get inside and made off with some electronics %u2013 this time a computer, police alleged.
Prosecutors said that it was only a matter of time before they apprehended Guiterez, who was quite sloppy as he committed his alleged nighttime operations.
Officials said that investigators lifted a fingerprint from the August break-in that was later connected to Guiterez’s alias, Alfredo Pachon, police alleged.
Some blood was also left on the windowsill at the law office would have ultimately led them to Pachon, officials alleged.
Cops charged the thief with two names was also charged with multiple counts of criminal mischief and petit larceny, officials said.
A 41-year-old woman was arrested on drunken driving charges after she allegedly slammed her vehicle into four parked cars on National Drive near Mill Avenue, cops from the 63rd Precinct told prosecutors last week.
Police responded to the area at 6:23 p.m. on November 18 when they found Donna Siegel-Price behind the wheel of a 2002 Dodge Intrepid with a crumpled front end. Several cars near her vehicle were damaged, officials said.
Cops immediately noticed that the woman was intoxicated, officials alleged. Police allegedly found an open bottle of Georgi Vodka in the vehicle, officials said.
Cops took Siegel-Price into custody without incident, charging her with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
An area teen was attacked near the corner of Flatbush Avenue and Avenue P for allegedly testifying at an ongoing court case, officials said this week.
Police said that the victim was nearing the corner at noon on November 8 when he was allegedly stopped by 17-year-old Calvin Drake and a juvenile who accused him of being a “snitch” for testifying at Drake’s trial.
Without too much preamble, the two males allegedly jumped their victim, punching in the head and face, leaving him with bruises that needed to be treated at a local hospital.
Cops tracked Drake down two weeks later, charging him with intimidating a witness, assault in the third degree, menacing and harassment.
His accomplice was still at large as this paper went to press.
A 52-year-old man was arrested last week after he was allegedly caught breaking into a taxi cab parked at the corner of Flatlands Avenue and Avenue L.
Officials allege that Carl Santana popped the passenger side lock to the vehicle at 3:30 a.m. on November 17.
He looted the cabin and ran off, but didn’t get far.
Cops, who came upon the damaged car moments later, reportedly saw Santana walking away from the scene, sporting a pair of gloves and flat screwdriver %u2013 a dead giveaway that he was up to no good, police alleged.
The officers reportedly stopped Santana and found a whole host of burglar’s tools %u2013 pliers, screwdriver and bolt-cutters %u2013 in his backpack, police alleged. They also found an assortment of mail and some vitamins that were taken from the cab, officials alleged.
Cops charged Santana with possession of burglar’s tools, criminal mischief, petit larceny, auto stripping and criminal possession of stolen property.
Police have arrested a second man in connection with a robbery on Ralph Avenue which took place almost two months ago.
Officials said this week that 17-year-old Michael Horrobin was apprehended in connection with the September 23 robbery.
He and another man, who was apprehended shortly after the heist, allegedly grabbed a man near the corner of Ralph Avenue and Preston Court at 8:05 a.m.
The duo pulled a knife, ordering the victim to hand over his property, police alleged.
When the victim refused, the suspects allegedly pressed the knife against the victim’s stomach and took his iPod, according to the Kings County District Attorney’s office.
The thieves then fled, leaving the victim unharmed.
Cops charged Horrobin with robbery in the first degree, grand larceny, menacing, petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.
As the ongoing war against graffiti vandalism continues, cops are now offering a $500 in reward money to anyone with information that can lead them to graffiti vandals.
The hefty reward is part of the city’s new push to rid New York of graffiti, which is one of the leading quality of life complaints brought to police.
Officials said that cleaning up graffiti is essential to the plan, to show that the community is no longer going to tolerate marred and tagged-up walls and street corners.
According to police, there is a perception that if a community will tolerate graffiti, they will tolerate other criminal activities, such as drug dealing and prostitution.
