The Black Bears took a bite out of Brooklyn on Saturday night when the Cyclones batters failed to hit with runners in scoring position.
Down 1–0 on the top of the fourth, both Manny Rodriguez and Ross Adolph both struck out with the bases loaded, losing a chance to possibly take an early lead.
West Virginia got on the board in the first when Briam Campusano gave up a solo shot to Luke Mangieri, before scoring again in the fourth to make it 2–0 West Virginia.
Brooklyn scored in the fifth, when Anthony Dirocie doubled to knock in Jose Miguel Medina, after Medina singled and moved to third off two consecutive wild pitches.
West Virginia scored again in the sixth off a sacrifice fly, and Brooklyn answered with one in the seventh, when Chase Chambers popped out to drive in Ross Adolph, who had singled and moved to third off two walks, to put our boys within one run at 3–2.
The Bears solidified its lead in the eighth, when they scored two runs of insurance to seal the deal.
The two teams go at it again tonight at 7:05 in West Virginia.
