Bikers throttle up in race for breast cancer cure

Health crusaders took their battle against breast cancer on the road when Maimonides Medical Center and Brooklyn Harley-Davidson teamed up with the Brooklyn Cyclones for a benefit motorcycle tour through borough streets.

Led by oncologist and Harley owner Dr. Patrick I. Borgen, the annual “Ride to Live” had big-hearted Brooklynites burning rubber to raise money for Maimonides’s Breast Cancer Program.

The tour stepped off outside the Harley dealership at 3449 Fort Hamilton Parkway, traveling past Maimonides Medical Center at 4802 10th Avenue, and Maimonides Cancer Center at 6300 8th Avenue, before heading toward Coney Island and KeySpan Park for a post-ride party.

There, visitors and participants enjoyed live entertainment, a barbecue, raffles and freebies, plus admired the star attraction – a classic 1959 Pink Cadillac – as part of a motorcycle show.
