Who’s a healthy boy?!
Dozens of pooches and their humans showed up at Borough Hall on Saturday for free vaccinations after a virulent strain of dog flu started striking local furballs last month.
The complementary inoculations came as a welcome gift to budget-conscious pet owners, according to an attendee, who said the offerings weren’t limited to medication alone.
“I expected only vaccines, but they had a whole lot more, such as free samples and other items,” said Saddith Bryan, who toted her cocker spaniel–mix Phoebe to the event. “It was amazing”.
Borough President Adams hosted the event along with pet-friendly sponsors that included the city’s animal-care centers and local branches of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
And the beep, a self-proclaimed advocate for shelter-pet adoption, invited some mutts — along with a few felines — looking for forever homes to the event, many of which left in the arms of new loving owners, according to his spokesman.
“There were 24 adoptions — the most we’ve ever had at an event like this,” said Stefan Ringel.
