Friday, April 22

Sometimes it’s Prince in April: Celebrate the life and times of music icon Prince with at Littlefield! DJ Steve Reynolds returns with the star’s biggest hits, deepest cuts, remixes, covers, and more, all while Music Video Time Machine projects moments from Prince’s film appearances and music videos on the wall. 

9 pm. $8-$12. 21+. Littlefield NYC. 635 Sackett Street between Third and Fourth avenues in Gowanus.

Saturday, April 23

BAMKIDS SpringFest: The Brooklyn Academy of Music has a full of activities, performances, and more for Brooklyn’s littlest musical enthusiasts and their parents. Grammy-nominated children’s musician Uncle Jumbo kicks off the weekend with a concert, followed by mural painting, more musical performances across all genres, and more!

10 am-4 pm. Free. The Plaza at 300 Ashland at Lafayette Avenue and Ashland Place in Downtown Brooklyn.

Earth Day Celebration: Passionate about the planet? Head to Brooklyn Bridge Park for their annual Earth Day celebration. The day starts early with a coastal cleanup and continues with yoga, a meditative nature walk, book giveaway, and more. Take care of nature and yourself with a day in the sunshine beside the East River!

8 am-5 pm. Free to attend. Brooklyn Bridge Park, 1 Water St. at Old Fulton Street in DUMBO.

Pedrito Martinez: Afro-Cuban Magic: Famed “master” of Afro-Cuban folkloric music, Pedrito Martinez will perform songs from his Latin Grammy-nominated album “Acertijos,” and more. Martinez begins the performance with traditional Yoruba chants and batá drumming in homage to his native Cuba before diving into his signature blend of rock, jazz, R&B and funk.

8 pm. $20-$30. Roulette, 509 Atlantic Ave. between Atlantic Avenue and State Street in Downtown Brooklyn.

Sunday, April 24

Brooklyn Marathon Cheering Zone: Not taking part in this year’s Brooklyn Marathon? You can still get in on the action cheering on thousands of runners as they embark on the journey. Gather with your friends, family, and fellow Brooklynites to send a little bit of encouragement to your marathon-loving neighbors!

7:30-11:30 am. Free. Albee Square at the corner of Fulton and Bond streets in Downtown Brooklyn.

Earth Day Discovery Hike: Perfect for nature-loving Brooklynites of all ages, join some of New York City’s Urban Park Rangers and explore one of the borough’s only freshwater ponds in Canarsie Park. Learn all about the pond and the millions of tiny (and not-so-tiny) organisms that call the water body home.

11am. Free. East 88th Street and Seaview Avenue in Canarsie Park.
