Breaking: Cyclist killed on — yes, on — the BQE

A bicyclist was killed on — yes, on — the Brooklyn–Queens Expressway early Thursday morning after two cars hit him near the Atlantic Avenue exit, police said.

The 40-year-old victim was apparently in the Staten Island-bound lanes of the cars-only speedway at about 4:12 am when a town car hit him from behind, and a second car also struck him.

The man was taken to Long Island College Hospital where he died. His name wasn’t released, and it’s unclear if his family has been notified.

Neither car left the scene after the collision. There is no criminality suspected in the accident, cops said.

Local commuters were inconvenienced by delays as police investigated the accident site.
