A 43-year-old man who was brutally stabbed outside his Brighton Beach home earlier this month has died of his injuries, authorities announced Monday morning.

Mamuka Kuloshvili was knifed during an altercation outside his home on Brighton 8th Street shortly after midnight on Saturday, Sept. 9, and succumbed to his injuries two weeks later on Sept. 23, according to police.

Cops responded to a 911 call following reports of a physical fight at Kuloshvili’s residence at around 12:39 a.m. on Sept. 9, where they found the bloodied victim with multiple stab wounds to the torso.

Emergency responders brought Kuloshvili to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn in critical condition where he remained hospitalized until he passed away on Sept. 23.

Kuloshvili’s neighbor, Giorgi Khajalia, 43, was taken into custody at the scene of the incident, and initially charged with assault.

Following Kuloshvili’s passing, police have reclassified the case as a homicide.

In the 60th precinct, where the Sept. 9 incident occurred, murder and felony assaults are both slightly down when compared to this time last year, according to the latest NYPD data. As of Sept. 17, there have been four murders and 271 assaults in the precinct in 2023.
