They’ve been hunting in Manhattan but spending their ill-gotten gains in Brooklyn.
Three young thieves with a taste for cash and credit cards are being sought for a series of robberies throughout Manhattan.
But detectives think this trio sticks to the old adage, “never poop where you eat,” and may call our borough home.
NYPD sources said that the suspects, two men and a woman, have reportedly been using the credit cards they’ve stolen from the big city at stores in Bensonhurst and other areas in the borough.
The trio has reportedly had an active summer and is responsible for at least a half-dozen robberies in Greenwich Village and the Upper West Side. They have also been connected to robberies in the Bronx.
In each case, the thieves approached their victim on the street, pull a gun on them and demanded their cash, credit cards and valuables.
Police said that the thieves usually seek out their victims in the late-night hours, sometimes between midnight at 2 a.m. – usually when victims are exiting their cars or walking home.
In at least one of the robberies, the largest of the trio, a Hispanic or white male between 5’11” and 6’2” and 195-210 pounds, was the “team leader” who spearheaded the attack on a hapless pedestrian back on July 11.
His two accomplices are described as a Hispanic woman with a thin build and long dark hair and a dark-skinned male with a medium build.
Police said that the thieves have yet to resort to violence, and usually leave their victims unharmed. Nor have they fired the gun they’ve been toting around town.
Investigators are asking anyone with information regarding these three individuals to contact the NYPD Central Robbery Section regarding Citywide Robbery Pattern 20 of 2008.
