Cops from Coney Island’s 60th Precinct took a moment to pat each other on the back last week during their annual Medal Day celebration.
During the ceremony, held at the New York Aquarium, cops were honored for their bravery, as well as all the hard work they put in as felonies in the 60th Precinct fell by over 14 percent in 2009.
Special honors went to Sergeant Glenn Amico and Police Officer Sean Feliciano, who received a Community Life-Saving Award and Police Officers Erica Torres, Jennifer Greco and Thomas Hopkins, who received precinct Community Service Awards. An Investigator of the Year award went to Detective Juan Creagh of the 60th Precinct detective squad.
Also recognized was Inspector Robert Johnsen, the commanding officer of the 60th Precinct, on the eve of his transfer to an anti-terrorism taskforce in Manhattan. On hand to congratulate him was Inspector Peter DeBlasio, who will be replacing him as leader of the 60th Precinct.
