Blanton’s first solo show “Ancient Experiences” is inspired by his statement, “Objective truth is a fallacy, all we are is our experience.” Drawn to fundamental metaphysical questions, Blanton’s paintings explore the ever evolving and multifarious nature of human experience. Using the surface as a metaphor for the passage of time, each layer’s textural element gives the impression of entropy.
Focusing on the figure from a classical viewpoint, each painting depicts the intangible as experienced through feeling, beyond the grasp of physicality. In addition, to his figurative work Blanton will also exhibit a series entitled “Fluting” which reference the earliest known traces of human markings.
