Pacific Green Gourmet Market finally opened
its doors July 31 at the corner of Court and Pacific streets.
The long-shuttered storefront is now filled with tempting ripe
fruits and vegetables and offers an array of gourmet foods.

Manager Jacob Ustundag says Pacific Green is modeled after Gourmet
Garage, Balducci’s and Garden of Eden – though it is on a slightly
smaller scale. Ustundag is joined by two managers including Hasan
Ustun (bottom left).

The produce is delivered daily, according to Ustundag, and includes
such out of the ordinary selections as plump bing cherries (top
right), cactus pears, mangoes, organic papayas, pineapples and
forrelli pears as well as the usual suspects – peaches, plums
and nectarines (top left). On the shelves there are lentil and
three-bean soups from Coco Pazzo, dressings, nuts, olives, Swedish
lingonberries, madras curry powder, Lurpak Danish butter, and
many varieties of mustards, teas, pastas and sauces.

Pacific Green also has a (less adventurous) deli counter including
Genoa salami and Boar’s Head ham, as well as some prepared foods
like pork barbecue ribs and enormous surimi crab cakes.

"I hope the customers will be happy," says Ustundag,
"and we’ll be successful – and happy."

Pacific Green is open daily, 7 am to 11 pm, and currently
accepts cash only. For more information, call (718) 852-9384.
