Eye spy
A thief with an eye for quality eyewear stole an assortment of sunglasses from the Park Slope Eye Optometrist on Union Street.
An employee of the optometrist, which is between Fourth and Fifth avenues, told cops that the slick eye gear was last seen on a display at around 7 pm on March 20. Two days later, at around 8 am, they noticed that a whopping $11,000 in “Chrome Hearts” shades had vanished.
Cig swipe
A thief stole a bevy of tobacco products from a car parked on Union Street on March 19.
A witness told cops that three thugs pulled up in a green SUV beside the car parked between Nevins Street and Third Avenue at around 11:30 am. They then swiped $1,600 in blunts, lighters and cigarettes. But the crooks better smoke ’em while they got ’em — the witness got their license plate.
Conned
A crafty thief duped a dim-witted sucker into buying a box containing a “laptop computer” for $250 on March 22.
The mark told cops that she was in a Flatbush Avenue building between Dean and Bergen streets when the con man approached at around 2 pm. The perp offered to sell her the computer at a bargain price.
But as the lady began to examine the contents of the box containing the too good to be true computer, the thief snatched the $250 from her hand and took off.
Launderized
A thief busted into a Fourth Avenue laundromat and left with a sack of quarters.
The owner of the joint, which is between Baltic and Warren streets, told cops that she returned to her business at 7:30 am on March 27, when she found $1,000 — $800 of it in quarters — missing. She said that the thief likely forced open the steel shutter and then slipped in the front door, which was unlocked.
Gone with the wind
A car thief stole a Ford Windstar from Butler Street on March 23.
The owner of the van told cops that he had parked his ride between Third and Fourth avenues at around 5:30 am. When he returned about 12 hours later, the soccer mom chariot was gone.
Unionized
A robber busted into a Union Street apartment and got two laptops.
The victim told cops he last was in his apartment between Fourth and Fifth avenues at around 5:45 pm on March 17. Five days later, he returned in the evening to find his two laptops were missing. He said that the thief likely entered through the fire escape.
