Fire rips through Bath Beach motel room

There are hot sheet hotels, then there’s the Harbor Motor Inn Hotel, where some sheets caught fire Friday — but not from anything salacious, mind you.

Firefighters raced over to the usually quiet Bath Beach motel at 1730 Shore Parkway on 1730 Shore Parkway at 2:30 p.m. on February 5 after a fire erupted in a second floor room.

Motel guests were evacuated briefly as firefighters beat back the blaze, which was rendered under control in about 20 minutes. The cause of the fire was still under investigation as this paper went to press.

No injuries were reported, save for one person renting the room that caught fire. The guest was given a clean bill of health after he was treated for smoke inhalation, officials said.

A motel employee told this paper Monday that the fire was confined to one room and that the Harbor Motor Inn was still open for business.
