Five injured after three-alarm fire rips through Flatbush apartment building

A three-alarm fire engulfed a Flatbush apartment house on Monday morning, leaving five people injured and dozens displaced. 

Fire Department sources said the inferno ignited at about 4:22 am on March 22 at the corner of East 29th Street and Tilden Avenue.

Responding FDNY units encountered fire on the second floor of the four-story building. The flames quickly spread to the third floor of the structure, prompting the Fire Department to make a three-alarm response.

Approximately 138 firefighters from 33 units responded to the blaze. Three civilians and two firefighters suffered minor injuries during the fire and were treated. 

Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control at about 6:23 am on March 22. The cause is now being investigated by FDNY marshals.
