A lad insane

A crazed comedy film with sets and props made from brightly colored cardboard, “Adam Green’s Aladdin” stars the former Moldy Peach in an adaptation of the story of a boy who finds a magic lamp. Green will speak before the screening.

Griffin has claws

Raising the bar

In his one-man show “A Life Behind Bars” actor and bartender Dan Ruth distills 20 years of experience slinging drinks into a night of darkly comic stories about New York’s changing bar scene, filled with alcoholism, crooked health inspectors, and selfie-sticks.

7 pm at the Gutter [200 N. 14th St. between Wythe and Nassau avenues in Williamsburg, (718) 387-3585, www.thegutterbrooklyn.com]. $25 ($20 in advance).

Golden voice

Singer-songwriter Asaf Avidan wraps up a three-night residency at Rough Trade tonight. The Israeli performer has an ethereal voice that recalls Billie Holiday and Janis Joplin, but the folk tunes on his new album “Gold Shadow” feel totally original.

Love’s food

You probably know drummer Questlove for his work with the Roots, from “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” or from his regular DJ sets at Brooklyn Bowl, but the Grammy-winning performer is also an author and foodie. Tonight he reads from his new book “Somethingtofoodabout,” a book of interviews with innovative chefs.

8 pm at Powerhouse Arena [37 Main St. between Water and Front streets in Dumbo, (718) 666–3049, www.powerhousearena.com]. Free.
