A lad insane

A crazed comedy film with sets and props made from brightly colored cardboard, “Adam Green’s Aladdin” stars the former Moldy Peach in an adaptation of the story of a boy who finds a magic lamp. Green will speak before the screening.

Griffin has claws

Tart-tongued, pop culture-obsessed comedian Kathy Griffin has promised to cuts loose on Brooklyn’s hipster pretensions. And her grueling two-night “Boroughing Around” tour, which had her in Queens the night before, will surely give her plenty to kvetch about.

Raising the bar

In his one-man show “A Life Behind Bars” actor and bartender Dan Ruth distills 20 years of experience slinging drinks into a night of darkly comic stories about New York’s changing bar scene, filled with alcoholism, crooked health inspectors, and selfie-sticks.

Golden voice

Singer-songwriter Asaf Avidan wraps up a three-night residency at Rough Trade tonight. The Israeli performer has an ethereal voice that recalls Billie Holiday and Janis Joplin, but the folk tunes on his new album “Gold Shadow” feel totally original.
