A Sheepshead Bay man was convicted of exposing himself to a 9-year-old girl and trying to drag her from her front yard, prosecutors announced on Thursday.
The victim was playing in front of her Ford Street home at 7 am in June of last year when Robert Drach, also of Sheepshead Bay, tried to take her, but her father heard her screaming for help and held the creep until cops came, according to the borough’s top prosecutor.
“It is disturbing that this defendant attempted to kidnap a little girl who was playing outside her home in broad daylight,” said acting District Attorney Eric Gonzalez. “She was lucky to be saved by her quick-thinking father and we will now see that the predator who attacked her is held accountable.”
Drach, who admitted to grabbing her and exposing himself to her, claimed the victim told him she was 18.
Bizarrely, Drach had keistered a lighter before his arrest, produced it while detained in the 61st Precinct’s station house, and set a chair on fire, the New York post reported. He put it back up his bum before cops could take it, and when they obtained a warrant to search him, he produced it again and tried to swallow it, the paper reported.
Drach faces up to 15 years in prison for the kidnapping attempt when he is sentenced later this month, Gonzalez said.
