A 45-year-old man was shot and killed at an East Flatbush apartment building on Wednesday afternoon, according to the NYPD.
Police said they received a report of a man shot at 211 East 94th St. just after noon on Nov. 1. They arrived on the scene to discover the victim, 45-year-old Tikya Francis, with a gunshot wound to the chest. Paramedics rushed Francis to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County in critical condition, and doctors later pronounced him dead.
As of Nov. 2, no arrests have been made and no suspects have been named. Cops said an investigation is ongoing.
Both murders and shooting incidents are down in the 67th Precinct, where Wednesday’s homicide occurred, per NYPD statistics, though rates of both are still relatively high. As of Oct. 29, 13 murders and 37 shootings had been reported in the precinct – down 18.8% and 20.5%, respectively, from 2022. On Oct. 29, an East Flatbush man — Jason Pass — shot and killed two neighbors, 47-year-old Bladimy Mathurin and his 27-year-old stepson, Mode Chinwai, in their apartment building inside the 67th Precinct.
Citywide, murder is down 11% and shootings are down 25% when compared to the same time period in 2022.
