She came in jeans and held court like a beauty queen — bowling over the alley cats with her charm and grace.
Miss Brooklyn 2011 Christina Moore struck a turkey when she arrived to a down-home borough welcome at Maple Lanes where she helped kick off the Cosmic Charity Challenge on Saturday to raise dough for the Children’s Miracle Network.
The chestnut-haired beauty dressed down in civvies, but shone head and shoulders above the rest in a glittering tiara and sash as she made the rounds at the lanes on 60th Street off 16th Avenue, boosting more than 130 good Samaritans to get their bowl on under disco lights.
By the time the final pin was felled, the group had raked in more than $2,500 for the charity which raises money for children’s hospitals. Miss Brooklyn, who shared the spotlight with Miss Kings County 2011 Carmen Mendoza, gave the actual sport a miss because she was busy working the crowd.
“That’s what she’s supposed to do,” said Maples’ manager Terri Herrmann. “She’s a wonderful girl, I’m glad she’s representing Brooklyn,” added the spokeswoman about the 20-year-old Wagner College junior, who also fired up crowds in Coney Island over the summer where she worked as a dancer for the Brooklyn Cyclones.
A slice of the Beach Bums awaited her at Maple Lanes — team mascot Sandy the Seagull was on hand to swoon over the pageant winner and Miss Kings County Carmen Mendoza, who helped announce the raffle prizes, donated by Brooklyn merchants and institutions.
