N. Bklyn industrial trade show

More than 300 business representatives from the industrial neighborhoods of North Brooklyn will help The East Williamsburg Valley Industrial Development Corporation (EWVIDCO) celebrate the accomplishments of their 25th year in style during the 2008 EWVIDCO Annual Tradeshow and Luncheon.

Enjoy an exquisite gourmet lunch, beneficial networking opportunities and breathtaking skyline views June 4 at Steiner Studios’ Stage 6, 15 Washington Avenue, at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. The tradeshow runs from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by the luncheon, 12-1:45 p.m., and then the program at 1:15 p.m.

Business Leader of the Year, Pace Plumbing, recently spent more than $5 million on a spectacular renovation and significant expansion of their Greenpoint office facility. Their investment has allowed them to expand their administrative staff by 25% and their plumbing staff by 40% adding 53 new jobs for a total of nearly 200 jobs.

Additionally, Pace Plumbing created room in their building for two new potential tenants that will employ approximately 25 people.

Community Leader of the Year, MarJam Supply, employs more than 175 people at their North Brooklyn facility. In addition to steadily increasing employment, MarJam has been strengthening their commitment to the environment and the well-being of this local industrial community. They recently installed photovoltaic panels on their rooftops to use solar power to decrease their reliance on the local electrical grid, as well as converting their NYC fleet to biodiesel.

MarJam supports Green Depot, a building supply company dedicated to making green building supplies and environmentally friendly maintenance products accessible to builders, building owners and consumers.

EWVIDCO will also be honoring one of its founding members, Martin Greenfield of Martin Greenfield Clothiers with their very special Founder’s Award. Martin is a past president of EWVIDCO and has been a tireless advocate for North Brooklyn’s industrial businesses. He continues to employ his considerable charm with his high-profile clients on behalf of the organization and the greater industrial community.
