After a dramatic year-long renovation, Spoke the Hub Dancing (STH) introduces the community to its new space and to a new roster of movement and arts classes for the whole family.
STH’s two-day open house and free sample mini-classes, plus in-person registration, will take place September 13-14 at the “new” Spoke the Hub Re:Creation Center at 748 Union Street in Park Slope.
Mini-classes are one half-hour each in length, and run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Calling ahead to reserve your spot in these classes is highly recommended: 718-408-3234.
In addition to the regular schedule including modern dance, yoga, Pilates, aerobics, tap, hip hop, sing, dance & make believe, ballroom, ballet, drama/performance workshops and tai chi, innovative new classes include African and Brazilian drumming, action heroes (dance class for boys only), dance for the physically challenged, street dance, kids’ fitness workouts (for sedentary and overweight kids), chair yoga, adult improvisation, men’s total body workout, American Sign Language, and, in collaboration with the Brooklyn Arts Council’s Folk Feet program, a variety of tradition-based dance disciplines including Hawaiian/Polynesian dance, Haitian dance, Middle Eastern belly dance and Bharata Natyam Indian dance.
