Atlantic Avenue just got a whole lot sweeter — just in time for Valentine’s Day.
Two weeks ago, the gourmet sweetshop, NuNu Chocolate, opened in a tiny storefront that quickly turned the busy stretch between Third and Fourth avenues into a sugary oasis.
“It’s very laid back here,” said owner Justine Pringle, pointing to her 12-foot farmhouse table that is perfect for hanging out at or typing away on.
“We want NuNu to be a place that’s really relaxed.”
That is, until the sugar high kicks in.
Diners can grab a seat at the table and sip shaved hot chocolates ($2 per cup), or nosh on Pringle’s sweet and savory salt caramels, which come in boxes of five ($7), and heart-shaped boxes of 12 ($15).
And for the adventurous, Pringle sells chocolates loaded with the notorious wormwood liquor absinthe.
“Absinthe is very easy to work with because it stands up to the chocolate — it holds its own and keeps its strength,” the chocolatier said of her confections, which are sold in boxes of four ($7), nine ($15), and 12 ($20).
