Budding Derek Jeters headed to their local green for rites and a game when the Roberto Clemente Little League celebrated opening day at its namesake ball field.
The youngsters, aged between four and 12 years, marched to the field of dreams at Wythe Avenue and Division Street, where they kicked off the season with presentations and the National Anthem, sung by Olympia Frias.
The league is named in honor of former Pittsburg Pirate Roberto Clemente, a native of Puerto Rico and among the first superstars of Latino descent to play in the Major Leagues.
