These kids were out of their gourds!
Carroll Gardens youngsters had a blast decorating seasonal squashes at Mazzone Hardware’s 11th annual Pumpkin Fest on Saturday — and one neighborhood dad said his offspring were so enthusiastic, they have transformed his home into a veritable pumpkin patch with the fruits of their labors.
“Now I’ve got painted pumpkins all over my house,” said father of two Mike Vacheresse, who owns Travel Bar further down Court Street and also handed out hot cider at the event.
Vacheresse and his brood joined almost 2,000 other locals at the corner of Court Street and Fourth Place for the fall fair, where families also enjoyed pony rides, face-painting, clowns, raffles, and free food — all while raising $3,000 for the Children’s Miracle Network, a national organization that funds kids’ hospitals, organizers said.
“Everyone had a really great time,” said Matt Mazzone, who coordinates the event with his family business.
