At first the man claimed that he was walking by the Breukelen Houses on Williams Street near Farragut Road when a man he did not know opened fire on him.
But when cops re-interviewed him, the victim changed his story and soon came clean: he was walking by the Breukelen Houses when he saw a gun on the street.

This gives new meaning to the phrase fare beating: a 21-year-old woman was arrested last week on charges that she attacked a cab driver as they quibbled over the price of a ride from the Upper East Side to Canarsie.
Police said that the suspect, Jennifer Maldonado, flagged down the cabbie at 8 a.m. on October 7.
When they arrived at Seaview Avenue and Rockaway Parkway the cabbie told her how much the ride was and she balked, police alleged.
Then she bolted, police alleged, but the cabby was too quick and grabbed her bag before she could get away.
Maldonado allegedly beat and pepper-sprayed the cabbie as she tried to loosen his grip.
Despite being hit and doused with chemicals, the cabbie managed to hold onto Maldonado until cops from the 69th Precinct could take her into custody on charges of assault and theft of services.
