Sometimes, it’s so good that no embellishments are needed.
The latest example came on Thursday, when Councilman Domenic Recchia (D–Coney Island) was the first of our elected officials to issue a statement after the tragic news earlier in the day. Here is that statement in its entirety:
“STATEMENT FROM COUNCILMAN DOMENIC M. RECCHIA, JR., CHAIRMAN OF THE COMMITTEE ON CULTURAL AFFAIRS, ON THE DEATHS OF FARRAH FAWCETT AND MICHAEL JACKSON
“Today, we lost two cultural icons. Farrah Fawcett was a critically acclaimed, award-winning actress whose career continues to inform actresses, both young and old. Michael Jackson was one of the most prominent musicians of the modern era. He sold more than 750 millions records and influenced every genre of music.
“As chairman of the City Council’s Committee on Cultural Affairs, I would like to express my thanks, for the impact they’ve had on their respective fields and the cultural community at large, as well as offer my prayers to their families, their friends and their legions of fans.”
And you said there was no Brooklyn angle on the deaths.
