ingsborough Community College continues its free sizzling concerts in July. The free performances, held rain or shine, take place at the bandshell on the KCC campus, 2001 Oriental Boulevard in Manhattan Beach, Brooklyn. The college provides 1,000 seats; patrons are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets (In case of rain, the performances are moved to the 700-seat performing arts center).

Listening to the likes of the featured performers at this year’s “Global Rhythms” — a tribute to the accordion — may encourage you to blow the dust off your instrument and give it another shot. Killer Gypsy accordion prevails July 19 at 7:30 p.m. when Slavic Soul Party! takes the stage performing a Balkan-fusion that has taken dance clubs across the country by storm. Pistolera opens with their unique blend of Spanish lyric songs, biting accordion melodies, and an unbeatable rhythm section.
The festival closes the following Saturday, July 26 at 7:30 p.m., with Rob Curto’s Sanfona Project performing irresistible and passionate dance music from northeastern Brazil. Sounds of Tareb opens the evening with a spicy blend of East African rhythms, Arabic modalities, and Indian influences.
