A police car, a bicyclist, and a delivery truck driver were involved in a terrifying early-morning crash on Oct. 31 that left two officers and the cyclist injured, police said.

The collision happened at 7:47 am on Flushing Avenue at Bushwick Avenue in Bushwick, police reported. The officer was responding to a call and had the green light as he drove toward Queens on Flushing Avenue when the bike-rider, pedaling a single-speed towards Williamsburg on the Bushwick Avenue sidewalk, rode into the street against the light, according to an NYPD account. The cop swerved to avoid her, but hit her anyway, then lodged the hood of the squad car underneath a box truck heading the opposite direction on Flushing Avenue, officers stated.

The cop who was driving the car suffered a head injury, an officer riding passenger got cut above his eye, and the cyclist broke her left arm, police said. Paramedics carted the bicyclist and one of the officers to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, and the other cop to Bellevue Hospital Center in Manhattan, per law enforcement officials.

Doesn’t look good: The bike, a fixed-gear or single-speed with a front brake, lost a whole bar of its frame in the crash.
