A 17-year-old boy was shot near a Brownsville high school on Tuesday morning.
Law enforcement sources said the gunfire erupted near the Brooklyn Collegiate Preparatory High School, located at 2021 Bergen St., at around 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 4. Officers from the 73rd Precinct, responding to a call about the shooting, found the young victim with a gunshot wound to his left leg. Emergency medical responders rushed the boy to Brookdale University Hospital in stable condition.
According to a preliminary investigation, school safety agents told police that the teen had not been shot at the school, but nearby, and rushed into the building for assistance.
Police said two suspects connected to the shooting are still at large, but did not provide physical descriptions. No arrests had been made as of Tuesday afternoon, and the investigation is ongoing.
Tuesday’s shooting was the second reported near a Brooklyn high school since the start of the year. Last month, a 17-year-old was shot and wounded in Fort Greene, steps from the Dr. Susan S. McKinney Secondary School of the Arts.
