Police have formally identified a suspect in the Bensonhurst shooting that killed 15-year-old Faridun Mavlonov.

Detectives believe that 17-year-old Leopoldo Nash, of Gravesend, fired several shots near the corner of 62nd Street and 20th Avenue on July 17 at around 1 p.m, fatally striking Mavlonov in the back as he walked with a group of friends.

First responders rushed Mavlonov to Maimonides Medical Center in critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries early on Tuesday, July 18.

Authorities are now asking anyone with information regarding the alleged suspect’s current whereabouts to come forward to aid in the homicide investigation.

Nash was last seen fleeing the scene of the incident southbound on 20th Avenue towards 62nd Street. Police launched a thorough search of the streets and local subway stations following the incident, but the manhunt was fruitless.

At a funeral service held Thursday for Mavlonov, his family shared the teen was a talented student who had dreams of becoming a UFC fighter. The 15-year-old had been attending summer school classes that afternoon, with cops believing that he was not the intended target in the shooting.
