Staten Island 2
Cyclones 1
Aug. 25 on the Rock (10 innings)
Damn Yankees!
The Clones fell to the arch-rivals — in walk off fashion — Monday night, but remained two games up in the Wild Card race.
Brooklyn struck first with a run in the third when Michael Conforto’s two-out single to right scored Alfredo Reyes, who reached on a fielder’s choice.
Starter Alberto Baldonado kept it scoreless through two, but gave a run in the third that tied it up for Staten Island. Baldonado pitched four innings with six strikeouts before giving up the ball to Carlo Valdez, who was followed by Kelly Secrest, both of whom kept the Yanks from scoring.
Enter Brad Weick, who got through the ninth before giving up throwing a gopher ball Chris Breen took for a ride, giving the Yankees the win.
The Cyclones take on the Yankees once more on Staten Island before returning home to MCU Park on Wednesday.
