Terriers anticipate front−court boost

St. Francis College Head Men’s Basketball Coach Brian Nash announced that Alexander Harrington has signed a national letter−of−intent to join the Terriers for the 2009−2010 season.

“Alex’s length and high energy will give our front−court a whole new dimension and we expect him to play big minutes for us,” said Nash. “He can do so many things well, particularly on the defensive end. He’s a tenacious rebounder and a skilled shot blocker. Offensively, he has a nice shooting touch, has very good hands and can get up and down the floor extremely well.”

Harrington (DuVal⁄Lanham, Maryland), who will have two seasons of eligibility, is a 6−9 center who was a starter at Brown Mackie Junior College (Salina, Kansas) last season. He averaged 9.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game and played in all 32 games for the Lions. In addition, Harrington shot 56 percent from the field and grabbed a season−high 13 rebounds against Highland College on February 28. He played the 2007−2008 campaign at Baltimore City Community College.
