Tenants of a Cadman Plaza West co-op building will host a public forum on Wednesday night to urge residents of a neighboring building to turn down a lucrative offer to sell part of their property to developers, who want to build a 40-story tower and shopping complex there.
An unnamed developer is offering residents at 75 Henry St. $75 million for the slice of land on Pineapple Walk — which includes beloved Park Plaza Restaurant, pet store, toy store and grocery store. Owners at the co-op would stand to make between $120,000 to $260,000, depending on the size of their digs, if they decide to accept the offer.
But residents of neighboring Cadman Towers — and even some 75 Henry St. dwellers — think a new high-rise will ultimately devalue both properties and ruin their views.
Henry St. residents have until Jan. 15 to vote. A majority “yes” vote would mean the co-op board would continue negotiating with developers, and also accept offers from competitors.
Public meeting at Cadman Towers community room (101 Clark St. at Henry Street in Brooklyn Heights). Jan. 6 from 7:30 –8:30 pm.
