To The Editor:
Stanley Gershbein (“It’s Only My Opinion”), I happen to agree with you wholeheartedly about the relaxation of wire tapping on calls from unfriendly nations.
I also feel the closing of Gitmo is a huge mistake unless of course you want to open up Alcatraz or Devil’s Island to house these terrorists.
The new president and his people do not seem to understand these people are not just common criminals with rights. They are terrorists with no other purpose than to destroy the American way of live. We have already seen what just a few of those prisoners released from Gitmo have done, and we now know that one is a major player in the terrorist movement.
We are going right back to the time when terrorists could bomb our embassies and destroy our naval vessels, as in the Clinton years. Prevention is the key. You do not wait for the horse to leave the barn before you fix the door.
All this ‘softening’ is not good, and I personally do not feel it will make the US look anything but weak to these terrorists. This is probably what they have been waiting for and will act accordingly. Keep up the good work.
