A love triangle turned deadly when a Midwood woman’s boyfriend and ex-boyfriend died in a barrage of police gunshots on Monday.
Police say Francisco Carvajal, the woman’s enraged ex-boyfriend toting two knives attempted to assault her in front of her two small children at her apartment on Ocean Parkway near E. Fifth Street at 7:18 pm on Sept. 29.
The woman’s current boyfriend, Rafael Laureano, entered the apartment at approximately the same time as police, according to authorities.
Police ordered Carvajal to drop his knife, but cops say he ignored their commands. Officers shot Carvajal — though a police spokeswoman could not say how many times — and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Laureano was also shot multiple time during the incident and was transported to Maimonides Medical Center, where he was also pronounced dead.
Three police officers were transported to Maimonides Medical Center to treat tinnitus, an ear-ringing condition common after hearing loud noises.
The woman and her children, a 7-year-old boy and 6-year-old girl, locked themselves in the bathroom during the incident and sustained no injuries, police said.
