Two Bristol Street residents were injured Wednesday morning in a harrowing Brownsville blaze.
Some 60 firefighters worked to subdue the inferno at 518 Bristol St., between Newport Street and Lott Avenue, where the two residents were trapped under heavy fire and clutter, according to Fire Department officials.
One victim was removed from the second floor just after 6:30 am, and the other was removed via ground ladder. Their condition was not immediately known.
Responding units used two hose lines to knock down the main body of fire, which was placed under control at 7:20 am.
There were no others trapped, and no additional injures reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation by city’s Fire Marshal.
