Long Island College Hospital (LICH) of Brooklyn kicked off its 150th anniversary with a Business and Community leaders breakfast. Representatives from community groups, the press, city government, the Nabe, houses of worship, law enforcement and the entire spectrum of healthcare were present to share LICH’s celebration.
Rita Battles, president & CEO of LICH, dwelt briefly on LICH’s illustrious past heralding back to the 19th century, but focused on its position as a 21st century leader in local healthcare.
“We are responding to the needs of the community by opening three new healthcare centers in 2008 alone,” says Battles. “We have established a Weight Management Center to combat obesity, a Fibroid Center to help women preserve their fertility and a Breast Imaging Center to combat the terrible shortage in Brooklyn of mammography.”
