Cops cuff suspect for champagne theft

Champagne problems

Cops arrested a man for allegedly stealing a bottle of champagne from a Court Street store on Feb. 6.

An employee told police that the suspect allegedly snagged the $52 bottle before dashing out of the store between Sacket and Degraw streets on foot at 7:05 pm. 

Police caught up to the alleged robber on the corner of Second and Smith streets at around 5:30 and arrested him, according to police reports.

Phone fiend

Police cuffed a man for allegedly restraining his acquaintance and stealing his phone on Henry Street on Feb. 16.

The victim told police that the defendant got into an argument over a speaker on the corner of Luquer Street at 12:35 am, before the suspect pushed him to the ground, held his forearm to his neck, and nabbed his $89 phone from his coat pocket.

Police arrested the suspect the next day at 10 am, and charged him with robbery and criminal possession of stolen property, according to police reports. 

Mom drama

Some thief stole a package containing more than $400 worth of maternity clothes from a Nelson Street apartment building on Feb. 9.

The victim told police that the pilferer ran off with the box containing $466 worth of maternity dresses, shirts, and overalls from the hallway of their apartment building located near the corner of Clinton Street at around 1:30 am.
