Fire Marshals are investigating what caused two cars parked on E. Fifth Street to go up in flames early in the morning on April 15.
About a dozen firefighters arrived at the smoky scene near Avenue S in Gravesend at about 6:15 am and battled the blaze until it was under control at 6:51 am, a fire department spokeswoman said.
The flames erupted early Saturday morning on shabbat, and in the middle of the Jewish holiday of Passover, in a heavily Jewish neighborhood, so Fire Marshals are investigating whether some criminal intentionally ignited the sparks, the spokeswoman said.
