‘Grand’ party

‘Grand’ party

Business owners on Grand Avenue in Clinton Hill are banding together to throw a truly grand block party on Saturday.

Still Hip clothing and toy resale boutique will offer face-painting, demonstrations and even stage a children’s fashion show at 2 pm, according to co-owner Gabrielle Napolitano-Swift, pictured.

In front of Still Hip, from 2 pm to 7 pm, the Brooklyn Children’s Museum will jump into the fray by offering make-and-take craft projects and showcasing live reptiles.

At 4 pm, Moshood clothing store will present a fashion show of their own African-inspired clothing for men and women.

Pierre Thiam of Le Grand-Dakar restaurant is offering a jaw-dropping lineup of live music, from 1 pm to 10 pm, ranging in style from Spanish flamenco and jazz by Oscar Pena at 2 pm to Nigerian drummer Baba Ola Jagun at 5:30 pm.

While Napolitano-Swift admitted that the sheer number of activities Still Hip will be offering “is going to be crazy,” she is looking forward to the frenzy.

Said the Park Slope native, “It’s such a Brooklyn thing to have a block party!”

The Grand Avenue block party will begin at 10 am on Aug. 16 on Grand Avenue, between Lafayette Avenue and Clifton Street in Clinton Hill. For more information, visit stillhipbrooklyn.com.
