Hey Brooklynites, remember what mom said about sharing?
Hordes of surly Suffolk County commuters will swarm the subway system at Atlantic Terminal on Monday as service changes kick-in on the Long Island Rail Road as part of Gov. Cuomo’s so-called “Summer of Hell.”
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is cutting train service at Penn Station to accommodate much-needed track repairs, and funneling a portion of the 9,600 affected Long Island commuters to the railroad’s second busiest stop — Atlantic Terminal — instead.
The transit agency is increasing Long Island Rail Road service at the terminal, running ten additional trains during morning and evening rush hours, according to a New York Daily News report.
The hub’s Atlantic Avenue–Barclays Center subway station — which serves the 2, 3, 4, 5, B, D, N, Q, and R trains — likely will feel coziest during the morning slog, when railroad tickets double as MetroCards for the duration of Satan’s summer, which is scheduled to end on Sept. 1.
