Hot wheels! Fire claims truck in Mill Island

Firefighters douse down a truck that caught fire behind Gil Hodges Lanes Friday. Officials said that the blaze erupted inside a trailer behind the bowling alley, near the corner of Mill and Strickland avenues, just before 11:45 p.m. on March 5. No injuries were reported. Witnesses said that the vehicle was among some construction equipment parked in the alley. The fire, which didn’t extend to the bowling alley, was not considered suspicious, an FDNY spokesperson said.
