No one has had this much fun getting school supplies!

More than 150 children celebrated the end of summer — and picked up backpacks and other necessary school equipment — during a fun-filled Aug. 20 Youth Fair on E. 49th Street in Flatlands.

Organizers from Matrix Auto Collision turned E. 49th Street between Avenues N and O into a xanadu of inflatable slides, pony rides, magic shows, kids games and grilled eats provided by Boar’s Head.

Saturday’s event was the fourth Youth Fair to be held on the block — and the celebration gets bigger and bigger with each passing year, coordinator Sheran Brunson explained.

“We started this as a way to give back to the community that welcomed our business,” Brunson said. “Now we do it every year because everybody loves it. It started with just local kids, but people started putting out fliers so whoever wanted to come showed up.”

Brunson added school supplies to the mix, knowing how difficult it is for families to stock up on such important items. The success of Saturday’s Youth fair showed that, she said.

“I had 200 bookbags to give out and by the end of the day they were all gone,” she said.
