It’s the season of giving — and, hopefully, healing.
The Dyker Beach Golf Course catering hall hosted back-to-back holiday meals and deals on Dec. 8 — with proceeds going to help a Bay Ridge boy, and others suffering from muscular dystrophy.
Events planning company J Brooklyn Social threw the Yuletide bash, which featured a breakfast and lunch with Santa Claus, performances by 13th Avenue dance academy Danceworks and 15th Avenue theater school Acting Out, and booths from a range of local shops. J Brooklyn said it gave the participants on opportunity to put their wares on display.
“We bring the community together with these events,” said company founder Jovi Offitto. “It promotes all the local businesses. It’s great networking, and they sell a lot of stuff.”
The event also raised $2,000 for Pietro’s Fight, named for 4-year-old Ridgite Pietro Scarso, who suffers from a potentially lethal degenerative muscle ailment. Pietro’s Fight — founded by the boy’s parents, Dayna and Manni — raises money and awareness to work toward curing the disease. Offitto said J Brooklyn Social wanted to contribute to a good cause during Christmas time.
“We were having the event, and we wanted them to be a part of it,” Offitto said.
